Despite the advances made in women’s rights during the last hundred years, gender roles still win out when it comes to pursuing a potential mate.
Girls are still suffering the hangover from dating tomes such as The Rules, a volume of misogynistic bullshit which includes chapters such as ‘Don’t Stare at Men or Talk Too Much’, ‘Don’t Meet Him Halfway or Go Dutch on a Date’ and ‘Don’t Call Him and Rarely Return His Calls’.
But the author of The Rules ended up getting divorced, and girls are slowly starting to realise that they can do whatever the hell they want and get a result.
