Clever girls are more attractive than girls with big boobs, says expert

This changes the dating game forever

Intelligence is the number one attraction for men and the length of your legs or size of your boobs doesn’t matter.

The dynamic of nightclubs is set to change forever, as a leading scientist has said men prefer brains over beauty.

Evolutionary biologist Professor David Bainbridge thinks men are more interested in being intellectually stimulated and it indicates having clever parents and a good upbringing.

But if you’re not a straight A student, there is hope. According to the Cambridge academic, men value youth over attractiveness.

But good looks do not matter unless you’re right and left side match up. Men are more visually turned on by symmetry than large breasts – and boobs are really the same size.

The dusty academic appears to think men are always looking for someone to carry their child and said matching features in a woman mattered more because the potential partner is young, healthy and has stable genes.

Legs might be long, but if they aren’t straight men will assume you have rickets, Prof Bainbridge told the Hay Festival when promoting his new book.

He said: “Breast size doesn’t matter. Large breasts are more likely to be asymmetrical and men are more attracted to symmetry.

“And they look older more quickly, and men value youth. And men are not looking for long legs. Straight legs are a sign of genetic health, so that is something that is more attractive, but surveys have shown most men prefer regular length.

“The main thing that men are looking for is intelligence. Surveys have shown time and time again that this is the first thing that men look for. It shows that she will be able to look after his children and that her parents were probably intelligent as well, suggesting that she was raised well.”

Denise Knowles, relationship counsellor and sex therapist at Relate, said the news indicates a development in what we find attractive and it’s actually a combination of the two.

She said: “I think the idea of men starting to think beyond the aesthetic is important. Personality and intelligence and humour, each of those is very attractive. The old adage beauty is the in eye of beholder is really important.

“The landscape of relationships has completely altered. We no longer think of who can just continue my line but also someone to look after us and protect us.

“The idea of symmetry is often something that because it’s neat, clean and tidy, it matches what we need to see. It matches that stereotypical idea of how people should look.

“We notice difference quite quickly. We have a template in our head of how things should look and we develop and add to that over the years. And if it doesn’t fit the template we’ll often find ourselves interested rather than attractive it’s natural curiosity.”

She warned it is almost always subjective depending on the person and if we’re not honest about what we find attractive, we risk a lonely love life.

Denise added: “I have found the individual is so unique, there are always differences in what we find attractive. So to some height will be beautiful, to others it won’t be as important. When it comes to making a life choice it goes much deeper.

“What we’re doing is evolving, not necessarily changing our perceptions entirely. No matter how you approach it, it depends on the individual. If we were totally honest with ourselves it’s a combination of attractiveness. and what people find attractive.

“I don’t know how true this research is but it opens our mind up to not focus on just one thing. It helps us to be able top broaden our ideas and be a little bit more honest.

“If we’re not honest with ourselves we’re setting ourselves up for a lifetime of disappointment.”
