Oxford acapella group’s ‘Santa Baby’ single is here to make your Christmas
They’ll hurry down your chimney tonight
Not sure what to get your mum for Christmas? Worry no more: Oxford’s very own student a capella group, Out of the Blue, have released their new charity Christmas single.
A pleasant, upbeat change to that dreadful Michael Buble album which manages to revive itself year on year, the single raises money for Helen and Douglas House, a charity which provides hospice care for children and young adults.
In their festive video the boys sing Santa Baby while swaggering around Oxford in neat formation wearing their sharp, signature navy blue Zara suits.
They also bathe in rose petals whilst warming your soul with their cheeky festive harmonies, handy given that many of you will need defrosting after keeping the heating switched off in your student houses all term.
Continuing to ride a wave of success which started after they released their cover of Shakira’s Hips Don’t Lie, the boys have already been noticed by the likes of the Huffington Post and the Daily Mail.
The group said: “We raise money for Helen and Douglas House, which is a hospice that provides respite care for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions, and support for their families.
“We have been supporting them for a very long time and it’s a charity close to our hearts so will continue to support and raise money for them.”
“You never know how well something like this might do, it’s really hard to tell.
“All you can do is hope for the best and see what happens. We’re just so grateful for all of the support that we’ve been given so far.”
And what’s next? Can we expect more rose petals?
“Well…more rose petals could be a thing. But for now, we are still figuring out what works best for us as a group. Even we’re excited to see what’s in store in the near and distant future!”
