JP from Made In Chelsea has talked about his depression
‘Suicide came in at one point’
Made in Chelsea’s JP has revealed that he was suicidal in his teens.
The Herculean JP (Josh Patterson), from the Royal Borough, spoke candidly on Good Morning Britain about his depression, caused by a family divorce.
Speaking to Kate Garraway and Ben Shepherd, he revealed: “I went through a divorce which had a huge impact.”
“At such a young age I didn’t understand mental health and the impact it has.”
“Suicide came in at one point.”
“Fortunately teachers heard about it and that was the start of the progression – hopefully people won’t get to that point.”
According to statistics released last year, suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45. However, JP suggests that depression can be overcome through communication.
“You have to accept what it is, you need to communicate, family or friends or a therapist, because there are so many choices out there.”
“I’m so happy. I’m exactly where I want to be. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I was affected badly by it.”
