The London clubs that don’t let you wear trainers
What is this shit
We are building a list of clubs that still don’t like trainers. Because the dress “code” for clubbing is not, in fact, codified.
Certain clubs, and even some bouncers, having pretty conflicting ideas of what constitutes appropriate and some clubs veritably mandate short skirts and ridiculously high heels, while others are happy with ripped jeans and a pair of Nike Air Force. It’s hard to tell, from the outside, what clubs will subscribe to which model.
Daisy Bernard and her friends were heading out to Paradise in Kensal Green a few weekends ago when one of the girls was nearly declined entry for wearing a pair of Adidas trainers.
Daisy said: “I was quite surprised. I mean it’s a nice place but it didn’t seem that formal. The bouncer was quite abrupt about it too”.
We asked some of London’s top clubs what their rules are on footwear. On this map, a red dot means you can’t wear trainers, but a green star means you can.
