Caroline Flack ‘hit boyfriend over the head with a lamp’, court hears
She is in court today
Caroline Flack has pleaded not guilty to assaulting her boyfriend Lewis Burton.
The court heard Lewis Burton suffered a “significant injury to his head”, with the prosecution alleging Caroline hit Lewis over the head with a lamp as he slept.
Caroline Flack’s lawyer, Paul Morris, told the court “he would not suggest that the injuries are significant in the way the prosecution submit”, adding “he is not a victim, he is a witness.”
Caroline Flack was arrested and charged of assault by beating on Friday 12th December at her north London flat, after a reported bust up with boyfriend Lewis Burton.
The prosecution say Lewis called 999 saying “she tried to kill me” during a three minute call.
A man, reportedly Lewis Burton, was taken to hospital for injuries.
Witnesses say six police cars arrived at their flat at in the early hours of the morning, and blood was seen on the front door.
Prosecutor Katie Weiss told the court police officers said both Caroline and Lewis were “covered in blood”, adding it looked like “a scene to a horror movie.”
The court heard Caroline had to allegedly be restrained on the ground after flipping over a table.
It was reported the fight broke out after Caroline found texts on Lewis’ phone between him and a 60-year-old woman and accused him of cheating.
A source said: “It was a stupid drunken row which got out of control. Caroline accused him of sleeping around and found messages on his mobile phone which made her angry and upset.
“They were from one of his tennis clients, a 60-year-old woman, which she misconstrued. Caroline got paranoid. She started massively over-thinking and convinced herself Lewis was flirting with another woman.
“Neither Lewis nor Caroline wanted the matter to go any further, obviously. But because the scene looked so bad and Caroline was so apologetic, police were duty-bound to take action and arrested her.”
Paul Morris told the court today Lewis Burton was appearing in court today in support of Caroline, and that the pair were still a couple.
He said: “They had been in a relationship all of this year and he appears in court today to support her and they remain a couple
“She wants to spend time with her partner. If the conditions were lifted there would be no concerns.
“It’s not an irrelevant point, it’s Christmas, it’s New Year, she’s suffered enough.”
Caroline Flack stepped down as Love Island host, and friend Laura Whitmore was drafted in by ITV bosses to replace her for winter Love Island, which starts in January.
Caroline said: “I’m glad it’s Laura… she loves the show as much as I do…
“Again…Thank you for your continuous support..It’s a really rough time..
“But I’m doing all I can to keep my head above water and sort this all out.”
Last night, Caroline posted on Instagram saying “this is the worst time of my life. I don’t know where to go to. Where to look. Who to trust. Or I even am.”
The Sun reports both Caroline and Lewis have unfollowed each other from Instagram, however only last night Lewis was posting pictures of Caroline with the caption “I love this girl”.
Caroline’s lawyers say Lewis does not support the prosecution’s argument.
