Many who were hoping for a more positive start to the new year were likely rather disheartened to hear the news that Harry Styles is rumoured to be dating Olivia Wilde, fellow actor and director of the film Don’t Worry Darling that he is slated to star in. Although thus far it’s only been confirmed as rumours, with both being known to favour privacy in their personal lives the news has got fans of both a little excited to say the least.

However, although Harry has seen the ins and outs of his life dissected on a mass scale by a voracious fandom that will never seem to fade away, less is known about Olivia. So, from all of her past relationships to her extensive family ties, here’s everything you need to know about Harry Styles’ rumoured new girlfriend, Olivia Wilde.

She was engaged to actor Jason Sudeikis

Wilde began dating Jason Sudeikis, star of We’re the Millers and Horrible Bosses amongst various other popular films, in 2011 after meeting him at an SNL finale party. The couple became engaged in 2013, and in 2014 she gave birth to their son Otis, followed by Daisy in 2016.

In November of 2020, it was announced that they had separated at the start of the year, but had “transitioned into a great co-parenting routine.”

She married her first husband when she was 19

Before she was engaged to Jason Sudeikis, Olivia was married to Tao Ruspoli in 2003 when she was 19 years old. They opted to get married on a school bus so that they could be completely alone, and there were only a couple of witnesses there. In 2011, the couple announced that they were separating and Wilde filed for divorce that same year, with it being finalised in September.

She studied acting in Dublin

Having visited every summer as a child, Olivia has strong ties to Ireland, and she even studied there. Spending a summer at the Gaiety School of Acting, she told The Independent that she credited her growth to the country.

“People in Ardmore would say, ‘Oh isn’t living in America cool: you live in a big city, you get to be close to all these things we only see on TV’ — but I found Ireland much more inspiring as a kid, much more fun, and the people had such an amazing effect on me, and I credit a lot of my growth as a child and a lot of my happiness with the people I was surrounded by in Ireland.”

Wilde comes from a family full of famous people

The Cockburn family, which is Wilde’s real surname, traces back to Sir George Cockburn, a British man who invaded Washington DC in the 1800s, and there have been famous people in her family ever since. She calls a number of famous journalists close family members, with her parents being renowned names in publishing and television.

Her and Styles share vegetarianism and feminism in common

Although it may seem as if the pairing between the two came completely out of nowhere, Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles seem to have a fair bit in common with the way they live their lives. Both of them avoid meat on the dinner plate, and they have also been loud voices in the progression of feminism.
