These are officially the top 20 unis in the country right now

The newest university league tables for 2022 have just been published, showing us definitively the top unis in the UK right now.

The Complete University Guide ranks UK unis nationally, giving them scores based on a number of requirements including: Student satisfaction; entry standards; graduate prospects; how much is spent on facilities and academic services; and quality and intensity of research.

It then gives each uni an overall score, and ranks them based on this.

As well as this, there are league tables for 74 different subject areas, so you can have a look at your course and see where your uni falls.

These are the top 20 unis in the UK right now:

20. Leeds

Leeds may be bottom of this list but is still one of the best unis in the country, at 20th with an overall score of 77 per cent.

19. Birmingham

Next we have Birmingham Uni, also with an overall score of 77 per cent.

18. York

Up a whopping four places from last year, York has an overall score of 78 per cent, putting it at 18th.

17. Bristol

In 17th place, also with a score of 78 per cent is Bristol.

16. Glasgow

At number 16, three places up on last year, is Glasgow with an overall score of 79 per cent. Glasgow is also the best uni in the UK for studying sports science, and for dentistry.

15. Manchester

Just slightly beating Glasgow with a score of 80 per cent is Manchester, which has risen two places since last year to be 15th.

14. Southampton

Next up we have Southampton, with a score of 80 per cent putting it at 14 – up three places since last year.

13. Edinburgh

Also with a score of 80 per cent is Edinburgh – putting it 13th on the list. It’s also the best uni in the UK for studying nursing.

12. Exeter

Staying at 12th place again this year is Exeter, with a score of 81 per cent.

11. Lancaster

With a score of 84 per cent, next up we have Lancaster at 11th place. Lancaster is also the best uni in North West England.

10. Warwick

Rounding out the top 10 we have Warwick, with a score of 85 per cent. Warwick is also the second best uni in the country for studying creative writing.

9. Bath

Bath is ninth best uni in the UK, with an overall score of 86 per cent – making it the best uni in South West England.

8. UCL

Also with a score of 86 per cent is UCL, which puts it at eighth on the list.

7. Loughborough

Look, I’m as surprised as you are – but Loughborough is officially the seventh best uni in the UK for 2022, with an overall score of 88 per cent.

6. Imperial College London

With an overall score of 90 per cent, Imperial is in sixth place. Imperial came highest of all UK unis for graduate prospects, with a score of 95 per cent – you know where to go if you want that grad scheme of your dreams.

It also came out highest for research quality, with a score for this of 84 per cent.

5. Durham

Up two places since last year, Durham is fifth with an overall score of 91 per cent. It’s the best uni in North East England.

4. St Andrews

St Andrews is the best uni in Scotland and fourth best in the UK, with an overall score of 95 per cent. It also got the highest score of all unis for student satisfaction, with 4.3/5.

3. LSE

With a score of 97 per cent, LSE is the third best uni in the country and London’s best uni. LSE is also the second-best UK uni for studying accounting and finance, just beaten by Strathclyde.

2. Cambridge

You knew which two unis were left, and you knew this was coming. This year Cambridge has fallen one place to a very respectable second, with an overall score of 99 per cent.

Cambridge is the best UK uni for a load of subjects, including civil engineering, biological sciences, law and classics.

1. Oxford

Once you read Cambridge was second, you knew only one uni could be first – for 2022, Oxford is officially the best uni in the country, with an overall score of 100 per cent. You really can’t say much better than that.

It’s also the best uni in the country for studying a number of subjects, including medicine, psychology, politics and anthropology.
