Birmingham New Street evacuated after ‘grenade’ reported – but it turned out to be a grinder

Police confirmed it was ‘deemed non-suspicious’

Birmingham New Street station has now re-opened, after being evacuated following reports of what was believed to be a “grenade” on one of the platforms.

However, British Transport Police confirmed it was actually a cannabis grinder that was “designed to resemble a hand grenade”.

The grinder was assessed by specialist police officers who confirmed it was not suspicious.
