Rudimental set to play John’s May Ball

The Tab can announce that Rudimental will be headlining John’s May Ball.

The chart-topping, genre-bending quartet will be playing a live show with a band of ten musicians, as announced a few minutes ago on CamFM.

Joining Rudimental will be electronic music duo AlunaGeorge. Voted second in the BBCs Sound of 2013 and Critics Choice nominee at the Brit awards, the band will be releasing their much anticipated debut album later this month.

Headlining the Comedy Stage will be Simon Amstell of Buzzcocks fame. Having warmed our hearts mocking Preston and threatening to murder a kitten, Amstell will be performing his latest set, Numb.

After two years of the ever-popular Denim performing at John’s, “Drag Queen extrodinaire” DJ Jodie Harsh will take to the stage this year.

This year’s headline DJs are Horsemeat Disco, set to headline Lovebox later this summer.

Nico Muhly, described last in last year’s Tab review as a “superstar composer”, will be performing alongside special guests.

Vice President Kieran Brunt told The Tab: “Once again, we are delighted to announce a hugely varied line-up for this year’s ball; not just big names but really varied performers, too.”

Some might be disappointed that the rumour of the Cheeky Girls playing turned out not to be true, after a contract between the college and the Transylvanian duo giving the game away was ‘accidentally’ left in the college library.

In fact, the committee announced on CamFM this afternoon that this was their own failed rouse.

Of the incident, Brunt told The Tab: “Unfortunately the Cheeky Girls will not be joining us this year, but if they’re interested then we’d love them to get in touch.”
