Cardiff Uni is the best place in the country to study Occupational Therapy
Cardiff is joint first with Southampton for studying Occupational Therapy
Cardiff University has been ranked as 26th overall in the rankings of UK universities released yesterday by the Complete University Guide 2020. This is up 7 places from 33rd in the 2019 table, and the University’s highest rank since it was placed 23rd in 2015. Cardiff’s Occupational Therapy course came joint first with Southampton as the best in the country.
The league table combines many factors to decide the ranking, including student satisfaction, graduate prospects, student to staff ratio and research quality. Cardiff does well in categories such as graduate prospects, entry standards, and gains the 5th highest score in the UK for research quality.
The table also reveals that 83.3% of Cardiff grads last year received a first or 2:1. Also 92% of students that come to Cardiff complete their studies and gain a degree.
However, Cardiff does less well on student satisfaction, coming 93rd overall, the lowest rank of any Welsh University other than Cardiff Met, obviously. Cardiff Uni also ranks lowly for the amount spent on academic services and facilities, coming 66th and 52nd respectively.
For student-staff ratio Cardiff currently ranks 28th, however earlier this year it announced its aim to reduce staff levels by 6.7% by 2022/23.
In subject league tables, Cardiff ranked in the top 10 for the following subjects:
Architecture- seventh
Civil Engineering- 10th
Journalism, communications and media studies- fifth
Dentistry- third
German- 10th
Medical Engineering- fifth
Optometry- second
Pharmacology and Pharmacy- second
Physiotherapy- fifth
Town and country planning and landscape design- 10th
Colin Riordan, Cardiff Uni’s Vice-Chancellor said: “I’m delighted to see us improve our rankings at both an institutional and subject level and to maintain our status as the number one university in Wales.”
Yet again these rankings show Cardiff Uni is better than Met…
