First Big Cheese queue of the year reaches McEwan Hall
It was two hours long
The first Big Cheese of 2015 on Saturday was marred by queues stretching around Bristo Square as far as Teviot.
Students turning up at the 10pm opening time were greeted by the disheartening sight of the queue already stretching as far as McEwan Hall.
McQuu-in Hall
But despite the near freezing temperatures, the majority of people endured the mammoth queue , and were eventually able to enjoy a VK or 10.
A well spent 2 hours
Saturday night also saw the launch of new club night Horticulture in Teviot Underground, with the fresher organisers trying to tempt P-row queuers over, with the promise of no wait and warmth.
But they weren’t to be swayed.
Everyone’s favourite gardening themed night out
Cheese lovers began to become agitated when EUSA staff appeared to have stopped letting people in, leading to one distressed queuer proclaiming: “The barriers are empty, fill it with humans”.
Amen to that.
Once inside, after only queueing for a measly 2 hours, students then faced long cloakroom and bar queues – well, those sensible enough to wear coats out in January that is.
And shockingly when they finally got to the dance floor at midnight it was bloody empty.
But the night improved when those lucky enough to get in before midnight returned from pres at 1am, and normal Big Cheese service resumed.
A good time was had by all … eventually
Once toes had thawed and the jagerbombs had hit all was forgotten and forgiven.
He’s forgiven Eusa maybe you should too
See you there same time, same place next Saturday, hopefully minus the hypothermia.
