International Women’s Day saw the launch of a new vodcast aimed at encouraging female medical students to consider surgical careers.

Exeter University psychologists Professor Michelle Ryan and Dr Kim Peters’ research reveals concerns about gender and identity may discourage women from donning a surgical mask, fearing a male dominated environment.

Ryan and Peters teamed up with the Royal College of Surgeons, Scalpel and the Medical Women’s Federation as part of their project in challenging perceptions.
