Things Heat Up at Co-op

“Hundreds of pounds” of goods thrown away at Pennsylvania Road store.

The cooling units at the Pennsylvania Road Co-op have broken leading to hundreds of pounds of goods being thrown away.

The broken down fridges held dairy goods

The cooling units held the majority of the chilled goods at the busy store, many of which have had to be discarded. Staff members were seen pouring away pints of milk into surrounding drains and the store’s bins are piled high with other goods that had been in the units.

However, this waste of produce could have been avoided. The manager claimed that hundreds of pounds of goods had been discarded.

While we’d recommend shopping elsewhere for your milk for the next day or so, the chilling units for alcohol and the freezers are still up and running.
