Brody’s gets bigger

Local breakfast bistro expands as Exeter demands hangover cure

| UPDATED

Ever wanted to visit that place with the toasters on Queen Street, seen the massive queue and given it a miss? Well, now you can cure that TP Friday hangover the good old fashioned way without having to wait for ages outside.

Taking over from Starbucks and opening a little over a year ago with its unmissable bright yellow exterior, Brody’s Breakfast Bistro can now boast about its snazzy new upstairs seating area.

Despite it being an American-style diner, there is only another restaurant in Torquay and one on a holiday park in Woolacombe so the business is a real local affair.

Upstairs wouldn’t be complete without the trademark toasters

Its all-you-can-eat breakfasts have proved popular with both students and locals with produce sourced only from the surrounding areas, fresh bread daily and magic pancake machines. (They just pop out, literally, at the press of a button.)

Oh and did we mention the fact it opens 8am-4pm every day, so there’s no need to roll yourself out of bed early following a heavy night of lash? Isn’t that just amazing?

Who cares about fun? It’s all about the food

Owner Tristan Toms said: “The plan has always been to open upstairs but it was derelict when we first moved in. It has been a real labor of love and taken a little longer than originally planned but it’s finally where I want it to be.”

Currently, upstairs is only open on a Saturday and Sunday on a trial basis, but as long as there’s somewhere we can park myself and pig out that’s all good with us at The Tab.
