The Enchanted Forest cancelled for second year in a row

Exeter students have been left disappointed with the news that this years’ Enchanted Forest has been called off due to “lower than expected ticket sales”.

The event was due to be held on Halloween night at Haldon Forest, just outside of Exeter.

A statement from the Enchanted Group explains: “With every project we undertake we aim to deliver a unique, remarkable and memorable experience for each and every guest.

“In this case, with just under half of the event tickets sold, we have not reached the point in which we can reliably deliver on this promise.”

The statement assured ticket-holders that they will receive a full refund for their tickets, and that the Enchanted Group is continuing to develop new projects to “bring a fresh approach to Exeter night life”.

A representative for The Enchanted Group told The Tab: “A lot of planning, effort and time has gone into our Halloween event and with tickets sales coming in at just under half it was just too risky.

“The costs involved in producing such an ambitious project are astronomical and we felt it was important to focus on our new projects whilst maintaining the quality of our existing events rather than risk it all on this.

“A number of factors have affected ticket sales but sometimes you just have to hold up your hands and accept that you aren’t going to be deliver the quality of event you want to and we sincerely apologise to all those who have been disappointed.”

And it’s hardly come as a surprise. Fourth-year Archaeology and Forensic Science student Stephanie said: “I was really looking forward to the event last year, but after it being cancelled I didn’t even bother getting a ticket this year.”

Masters student Beth said:”To be honest, it didn’t seem like a great idea in the first place. It’s a little bit cold this time of year to be in a forest, and there will be loads of other stuff happening around town anyway.”

Others are disappointed. Masters Physicist Alex said: “I was hoping for something different to do this Halloween rather than having to go to Arena, so I’m pretty gutted it’s not happening any more.”
