LUSU announces support for students affected by Ukraine crisis

They are hosting drop-in sessions next Tuesday and Friday


Lancaster University Student’s Union announced that they are here to support any students who have been affected by the Ukraine Crisis.

It comes as Russia launched an invasion into the bordering nation.

The Union are running two drop-in sessions on Tuesday 1st March from 3pm-5pm and on Friday 4th March from 11am-1pm for students to discuss these issues and or ask for any support or help they require.

Sonja Dembo, the Student’s Union International Officer released a statement saying: “My heart is with the people who are fleeing, who are hiding, and who are scared.”

The statement continued “I understand that there are plenty of students in Lancaster whose family are directly or indirectly affected by this war in many different ways, myself included.”

It was also announced that Sonja would be hosting a “Tea/Chat event” on Sunday 27th February in the Chaplaincy Centre, to share thoughts and worries and that “everyone is welcome to come to find people who are also affected by this”.
