A Leeds first year drunkenly bought a solo cruise to Croatia while she was on a night out

Many people are going out and celebrating the end of exams this week, but for Leeds student Anna, a first year Biologist, her night ended up costing more than she could have ever imagined.

While drunk, Anna bought herself a trip on a non refundable cruise to Croatia which cost her over £800. The best part is that she leaves on the 8th June, so she can’t even vote in the election.

Anna shared that she had been drinking in “the Union, followed by the gay quarter in Lower Briggate” on the night she decided to book the cruise.

In her own words, it was “a deadly combination”. The feeling of booking the trip did not however leave a lasting impression on Anna, as she says “I assume I felt the need to go on a solo Croatian cruise, but I can’t really remember”.

You would be mistaken for thinking that Anna had a long burning desire to go to Croatia as when she was asked why she picked that particular destination, she put it down to “jägerbombs and a death wish”.

Anna’s friend Ellie, a first year student also from Leeds, set up a GoFundMe page in an attempt to raise money for another ticket on the cruise so that Anna does not have to go alone. However, the fundraising currently sits at just £5, so with another £805 to be raised, it looks like Anna will be going alone.

Anna is coming to terms with this reality as she says “unfortunately, due to the mere £5 raised on Ellie’s GoFundMe page, I will be going alone. I feel like the end is neigh, but also pleased that my legacy will live on through The Tab”.

The £5 raised on the GoFundMe page has been donated by Ellie herself, in an attempt to “get the ball rolling and open the flood gates”. As it’s too late to book the holiday now though, any money donated towards the trip ill be donated to the families of victims of the recent terror attacks in Manchester and London.
