We’re hiring new writers and editors for our Tab London team
No experience required, just immaculate vibes and a commitment to banging stories
We’re hiring freelance writers and editors to join our team and help us break fresh new stories on the campuses of 12 London unis, including UCL, UAL, Imperial, and LSE.
If you’ve been looking for a sign to get involved with news or feature journalism that actually means something to you as a student, here it is. Whether you want a more relaxed position as a feature writer, or want to get stuck in with more formal editing work, we are welcoming all applications.
You’ll receive top quality training, the opportunity to apply for internships at our national Tab HQ, and tons of experience as part of a team with 50,000 views and an eye for good journalism.
About the Tab London
We are a student-run and student-based news and culture platform covering 12 London universities, looking for a more diverse team of writers from a range of these unis to help us in this academic year. We want our unis to have their own student voice, from exposing breaking news and campus gossip to engaging our readers with fun and relatable features.
As well as getting a lot more exposure and covering more fast-paced news than your average uni publication, we pride ourselves in being entertaining, down-to-earth, and in tune with what the student body wants to see. From memes and surveys to exclusive stories, we are always on the lookout for new people to keep our stories fresh.
We cover news and features from these London unis:
• UCL
• Imperial
• LSE
• Goldsmiths
• Royal Holloway
• SOAS
• City
• LSBU
• UAL
• Birkbeck
• Queen Mary
• RVC
Becoming a writer
As a freelance writer, you’ll contribute to our growing young team of journalists producing content that suits your skills and interests. If you’re a sharp news reporter, there will be opportunities for you to break stories as and when they happen, or if you’re more inclined to casual and humorous features, we can give you free creative reign to engage our readers.
Becoming an editor
If you want more involvement and chances of promotion in the Tab, our editor position is definitely for you. Join our existing team of editors and collaborate with managing the team, proofreading and editing articles, social media management, and hands-on news reporting of the most important stories.
We’re looking for an ambitious and passionate journalist, preferably with previous experience for this role, who knows how to grip readers with their words and understands what London students really care about. We also want a high level of commitment throughout the academic year, and a voice from the ground at all times. Quick, punchy write-ups are as essential as crazy detailed scoops and hot takes here.
How to apply
You don’t need any experience to write for us, just a confident writer’s mind and flair for good stories. If either of these roles take your fancy, email [email protected] or DM our Instagram account with a pitch article to get involved.
Editor positions require a more formal application process, so let us know if you’re interested in our editorial team in your message and we can go through the next steps with you. Don’t be scared off – this is a great opportunity to jump to the top!
We’re really excited to welcome more writers to our team this year, so don’t hesitate to contact us and get involved.
