A motion has been submitted to ban David Cameron from the Students’ Union

The motion was submitted by an ex-member of the senate as a joke

A student who was kicked out of the senate for unknown reasons has submitted a motion to ban the Prime Minister from our Students’ Union in order to fight back against the “Tory steamroller”.

This is the motion which must be considered by the senate.

This is a statement from the Students’ Union regarding the motion:

“The recent idea which has been submitted by a student to ban David Cameron is an example of us as a Union allowing students to openly submit their ideas and policies to our democratic structure. As a Students’ Union, we are committed to empowering our students to shape what the Union does or believes by participating in our democratic structures.”

Naa Acquah, General Secretary at the University of Manchester Students’ Union  adds: “This idea was submitted by one of our students rather than the Students’ Union as an organisation, but we have established a place for students to debate any topic that they feel is important to them and I would encourage any University of Manchester Student to get involved in these debates and shape relevant policies.”

This idea was submitted alongside 13 other motions and the senate actively encourages all students to suggest amends to by midnight on Sunday 10 April.

Senate is due to take place 14th April.
