Eight things to do in Newcastle this cozy season

Is it autumn or winter? Not actually sure

November is a weird month – Halloween and Bonfire night are over, but it’s not quite Christmas time yet. It starts getting dark at 4pm and some days you can go out in a light jacket but others require three layers, all made of wool.

So, what exactly is there to do in the Toon this time of year? If you’re in need of some inspo, here’s eight things to do in Newcastle this cozy season.

Go on a crisp Autumn walk

Yes, this is fairly obvious but it is absolutely gorgeous outside at the minute – wrap up warm, get yourself a gingerbread latte and take a walk around Jesmond or into the Dene. The leaves are just about still on the trees, so it’s not yet depressingly bleak as it will be in December.

Plus, you can take some scenic photos or even cute candids in the leaf piles – very Gilmore Girls.

Go to the cinema

This time of year is the perfect time to take a cinema trip, as it really isn’t the same experience going in day light – it just has to be dark.

Tyneside Cinema has a great selection of films on at the moment, or if you’re feeling boujee, treat yourself to Everyman. They provide waiter service straight to your seat and have a huge selection of food and alcoholic beverages.

Go for coffee

Let’s be real, nobody fancies “going for a coffee” in the summer time but at this time of year, it’s suddenly appealing. Newcastle has so many cute cafes where you can either meet friends for some cake, or go solo and get some uni work done.

Our faves include Cake Stories, 1901, The Dispensary, Central Perk and Super Natural.

Try a teahouse

If coffee isn’t your thing, Newcastle also has a range of teahouses.

Tea Sutra on Leazes Road serve a range of tea from around the world, as well as vegan snacks and cakes, perfect for a warm relaxing afternoon.

Go to a book shop or library

No, we don’t mean the Robbo. Going to a book shop or library is so relaxing, and an unread fiction novel in your tote bag is a must have cozy season accessory.

Newcastle Waterstones has a huge selection, and even has a cafe.

Have a fancy cocktail night out

This time of year is perfect for a more civilised night out – you can go out in a coat and boots, get a bit tipsy and still be tucked up in bed by 11pm.

There’s something about November that just screams espresso martini, and Horticulture have a huge selection, with 40 variations to choose from.

Go Christmas shopping

It might feel a little bit early but if you don’t do your Christmas shopping now, you’ll definitely regret it when you’re stuck in a 45 minute queue for the Fenwicks’ tills on Christmas Eve.

Christmas shopping can be totally fun if it’s relaxed, and if you go now, nothing will be sold out and you can smugly boast to all your friends and family that you’re finished before them.

You can even do a bit of window shopping for your own Christmas list!

Stay in

Finally, if you really don’t feel like going out, tis the season to stay in bed.

Snuggling up on the sofa with a  hot chocolate and a good film is what this time of year is all about, so d0n’t judge yourself too harshly if you aren’t feeling like leaving the house
