Coup at Overheard at Oxford University

After a turbulent week of public disagreements, James Johnson has removed Joe Miles as an administrator of the Overheard at Oxford University (OaOU) facebook page, establishing a complete control over the site.

Earlier this week, James Johnson was made admin of the OaOU facebook page, after winning a site-wide poll to elect a new administrator to help Joe Miles.

The jubilation was to be short lived however, as a series of disagreements lead to Miles removing Johnson from his position, and once again becoming the sole admin.

Earlier today Johnson was reinstated, and then promptly ousted and banned Joe, and at the time of writing is the only administrator of the facebook site.

A taste of things to come?

The move has come with an announcement of a policy change about the submission of content to OaOU, where “only [posts] in praise of said ‘James Johnson’ (Ashmole President 2012-13) will be accepted.”

The Tab has received reports of victorious Johnson forces burning effigies of Miles, as well as tearing down his portraits adorning the OaOU offices.

Johnson’s militaristic tendencies had been noted, as a fellow student at Brasenose commented: “I always believed that there was a core of steel within him – a desire to rule his subordinates with an iron fist.”
