
Student dies after falling from Maths and Stats Building
The second year student passed away in hospital overnight
Yesterday a man was left in a critical condition after falling from the Maths and Stats building. He was rushed to hospital in an air ambulance.
In tragic news, the Maths and Stats department e-mailed students informing them that the second year, named Josh Hill, had since passed away.
The e-mail read: “We are deeply saddened to confirm that Josh Hill, a second year student studying Data Science has passed away in hospital overnight on Monday 10 June, following a fall in the Maths and Statistics building.

In a comment from the head of the department, Professor Barbara Finkenstadt said: “The whole department is deeply saddened and distressed by the death of this lovely, gentle and kind young man. Our thoughts are with Josh’s family.”
Students access to the building has been limited for the short term. These include access to level 2 being restricted unless accompanied by a member of staff and students will not be able to enter the building before 8am or after 6pm.
