Freshers asked how to cook crystal meth in Breaking Bad themed exam question

The lecturer is a bit of a legend

A quirky chemistry lecturer amused his first years by asking them an exam question based on the classic Breaking Bad TV show.

Professor David Smith asked the freshers: “In the TV show Breaking Bad, the main character Walter White synthesises methamphetamine 3 according to the synthetic scheme shown below.”

They had to answer how methamphetamine, the drug made and sold by character Walter White, is created – which is basically asking them how to cook crystal meth.

He tweeted he was particularly proud of his exam question, later adding: “Obviously any students scoring full marks on my exam question will be reported to the DEA.”
