Why you should live your life like Miley Cyrus

And why I do

It has been a few years since former Disney star changed her image to something a little less child-friendly. There was a lot of backlash and criticism about her change. I, however, don’t see it as a bad thing. Instead, I think Miley grew in to someone more respectable and in to someone I choose to live my life like.

She doesn’t let anybody tell her who to be and who not to be. She is her own independent woman

Stop conforming to societal norms that you don’t necessarily fit in to. Women in society usually wear makeup, do their hair, and dress in nice clothing. That is not my scene. I wear makeup maybe once a month for fun, have my hair up in a bun, and you will see me walk to my 8am class in my sweatpants. I don’t owe it to anyone to dress up if thats not what I like to do.

She doesn’t take shit from anyone

Stop caring so much what people think about you. It doesn’t matter if two people like your Instagram photo or if two thousand like it. Stay away from drama and let go of the dramatic people in your life that are just there to start shit. Start caring more about yourself and less about what others think. If you use social media as much as I do, start posting things for you – not for the likes.

She doesn’t apologize for things that others do to hurt her in order to get them back

Try to limit your apologies every week. Only apologize when you know you are in the wrong. If somebody hurt you and you did nothing to them, it is not your job to apologize. Wait for them to apologize and if they don’t then screw them. Also, let go of negative people in your life, those who only talk to you when they need something. Trust me, there are a lot of people like that who need your pity to thrive, so just stop feeding into it, you will feel a lot better.

She has no shame in what she wears and no shame of viewing herself as a sexual human being, which Disney stars are apparently not allowed to do ever

If you’re a sexual being (like most of us are), there is no need to hide it and pretend you’re something you’re not. Embrace your sexuality as it is and don’t hide behind a mask of what you aren’t.

She knows when to be goofy and have a good time

Try to find some time in your week doing something you love. If you’re a shy person like I am, try to challenge your anxieties and don’t be afraid to be your goofy self. If someone doesn’t like it, they’re obviously not the one to be in your life. You will find many more genuine friends this way.

She isn’t afraid to admit she has her flaws but embraces them for what they are and help them define her

Everybody has flaws. Instead of focusing on the negative, try to find a way that your flaw makes you unique. For example, I hate my hair. It’s puffy, super curly, and just doesn’t know what to do with itself. I live in an area where everyone has blonde straight hair-except me. I used to try and fix my hair to look more like the others in my neighborhood, but now I keep my hair like it is because it helps me stand out from all the rest of the people. It isn’t cool to be the exact same as everybody.

Plus I have a huge crush on her, ngl. Hey Miley whats good.
