We went to College Night at the MFA #tbt
‘I liked the part at the beginning with all the gold and stuff’
Yesterday the Museum of Fine Arts hosted College Night. The theme was Throwback Thursday, which fostered a fun, intellectual atmosphere.
College students from all over Boston came to mingle and “travel through time” to the different exhibits.
The event, held from 6.30 to 9.30 pm, was geared towards college students, luring them in with free admission.
The Shapiro Family Courtyard
The event featured a photo booth, free gelato, and a band that had everyone dancing. Everyone flaunted their own personal style and many let their quirky, fun personalities shine through their unrestrained dance moves.
The Tab asked some students about their experience at the event.
Ryan Mallaby, Northeastern, International Affairs and Business, Junior
“My favorite part of the event so far is the music. It’s a nice vibe. It’s usually so quiet so it’s a nice change.”
Sydney Mutluay, SMFA, Mixed Media, Sophomore and Nic Daniels, SMFA, Sculpture, Sophomore
“Our favorite part so far has been the airplanes in the contemporary wing.”
“If I could be a part of any exhibit, I would be in the contemporary exhibit downstairs. It’s the 3D one.”
Connor Doherty, Northeastern, Communications/ Political Science, Senior
“I would say this room [the Shapiro Family Courtyard] is my favorite part for the sole reason that even if you’re coming solely for art, there’s still an excitement in the room that there may not be by the paintings.
“My favorite exhibit is the experimental wing with all the different materials.
“But I mainly came here because it was free and I haven’t been here in a while. It was also an excuse to go to something that’s artistic and mature while being accessible and with other people that are like me.”
Drew Davis, Boston College, English, Sophomore
“I liked the part at the beginning with all the gold and stuff.”
“I would say the modern art definitely doesn’t describe BC. BC is definitely not modern. Maybe some of the old school classical things.”
