When was the last time you cried?
Norovirus isn’t the only thing that has BC students down in the dumps this week
As the semester comes to a close, emotions are running high with finals looming over us. Group projects are a nightmare, you can’t find an open classroom to study in, Bapst is packed with people who have never set foot in there, and everyone has that one professor who assigns a paper during finals with an exam.
Needless to say, BC students are feeling increasingly overwhelmed and just want to go home, but don’t seem to have the time to figure out how they’re getting there (or is that just me?).
Finals bring out the emotional side of everyone, and as a lack of sleep sets in, virtually anything can push you to the brink of tears. The Tab asked students just before study days to find out why they’re crying.
Katie Beam, Junior, Secondary Education and History with a minor in Special Education
I took a break from all of my papers to clean my fish (Slim Shady)’s tank and in the process of putting him back in the fishbowl he tragically fell to his death down the drain in our kitchen. Despite rescue efforts he could not be saved and I cried for two hours while my roommate laughed at me. I am now lonely, he was a great study companion and now I don’t know what to do with his bowl. It has been sitting on my desk since.
Annie Tenzinger, Junior, Math and Computer Science
The last time I cried was watching the Victoria’s Secret fashion show while eating a 32 oz. jar of Nutella.
Then I cried again because I wasted 2 hours watching the Fashion Show instead of doing my homework.
Joe Arquillo, Junior, Applied Psychology
The last time I cried was when I found out I will not get my Lynch School apparel before I go home on Christmas break.
Or maybe it was when a group project of mine lost our entire 15-page Google doc for a project that’s worth 20 percent of our grade. “Sorry, this page is unavailable” doesn’t really help me now Google docs.
Maura Keefe, 2017, Psychology with a minor in Econ
On Sunday I teared because I realized I had five exams and a paper due within the next six days.
Chelsea Binnig, Sophomore, Nursing
May have leaked a tear or two yesterday upon discovering my roommate in the bathroom covered in puke due to E. coli poisoning.
Kylie O’Connor, Junior, Psychology with a minor in English
The last time I cried was when my painting professor scraped the entirety of my painting off the canvas after I had just spend an hour and a half on said painting. So I stormed out.
(Note: This was also on her 21st birthday, shoutout to her for even going to class.)
Victoria Larson, Junior, Communication and Economics
(“There’s actual tears pouring down my face”)
Tears were shed due to lack of sleep, excessive amount of work, way too many hours spent in O’Neill, and fear of getting E. coli all before the stress of finals week.
Austin Brown, Senior, Math
A lot of people cry when they chop onions, the trick is not to form an emotional bond.
Taylor Palumbo, Junior, Finance and Corporate Reporting and Analysis
The last time I cried was when I found out I wouldn’t be on campus for the last week of school. This wasn’t because I would miss a wonderful weekend of friendship, it was because I wouldn’t have an excuse to wear my Christmas onesie in public.
BC don’t cry – here are some puppies
Needless to say, we are ready for the therapy animals. Here’s a quick preview for all having a tough week.
