We weighed backpacks in O’Neill to see which major has it the worst

Obviously bio was the heaviest

Finals week continues…meaning so does studying – typically with the textbooks that your own professors wrote.

So, how many Comm majors’ backpacks does it take to add up to a Pre-Med’s backpack? Answer: 5.

With backpacks that heavy on their backs, those pre-med students are going to need that medical degree ASAP.

Emily Rayball, Freshman, Bio/Pre-Med

Backpack: 21.5 lb

Tote bag: 10 lbs

“I’m studying for my general Chemistry final. The chem book is killer. If I could have the norovirus and no finals that would be worth it, because Chipotle is worth it and guacamole is definitely worth it. But if I had to make up the finals after having the norovirus then definitely just the finals.”

Reggie Paris, Senior, Bio

Backpack: 20.5 lbs

Courtney Severance, Freshman, CSOM

Backpack: 11.8 lbs

“Multivariable calculus causes my backpack to be heavy because it requires a binder, notebook, and textbook. I would also rather have norovirus because it’s two days of pain while five finals is several days of taking tests, plus all the time to study for them. Also, my GPA affects a lot more than me being sick with norovirus.”

Drew Lee, Senior, Economics

Backpack: 7.8 lbs

Max Baker, Freshman, Political Science

Backpack: 9 lbs

“I was done with my exams. I just keep a lot of junk in my backpack like water bottles and candy bars and a computer. And don’t forget about an iPod.

I would rather take my easy finals then catch norovirus so I don’t have to take the hard ones. That wouldn’t have been a bad deal.”

Sophomores Ryan Morissey, Econ and Dan Wu, Computer Science

Ryan: 10 lbs

“My backback was heavy because of Econ Stats and Macro Theory. And I’d rather get the noro cuz it doesn’t last nearly as long!”

Dan: 9.4 lbs

William Bowditch, Junior, Computer Science

Backpack: 6 lbs

“My backpack was supes light, all I had in it was a laptop. Books are for hardos. And I’d rather take 5 finals.”

Benjamin Lynch, Freshman, Economics and History

Backpack: 9.1 lbs

Veronica Agne, Freshman, Management and Leadership

Backpack: 7.8 lbs

“Econ is probably the class making my backpack the heaviest. And I’d rather have norovirus without a doubt. Puking is temporary, emotional wounds from finals are forever.”

Simi Siddalingaiah, Freshman, Undecided

Backpack: 8 lbs

“The class that’s causing my backpack to be the heaviest is Principles of Microeconomics (that Tresch textbook weighs a ton).

“I would much rather take 5 finals than get norovirus! I’d prefer to just be done with my classes than to throw up for days, and to some extent I feel like I’ve been preparing all semester for finals and it would be a waste of all that time if I didn’t end up taking them.”

Killian Nelson, Freshman, Economics

Backpack: 8.7 lbs

Elijah Teixeira, Sophomore, Communication

Backpack: 6.2 lbs

Chris Ramirez, Freshman, Undecided

Backpack: 16 lbs

Kyle Hazelwood, Freshman, Business Management

Backpack: 14.7 lbs

Joanna Hammond, Freshman, Communication

Backpack: 8.4 lbs
