CU Boulder voted ‘Best Mascot Entrance’

Run, Ralphie, Run

This week was a big week for CU’s beloved mascot, Ralphie, when the NCAA recognized her for the “Best Mascot Entrance” in college football. Rightfully so because come on, who else can say they have a live buffalo run a lap around their football stadium before their home games?

Ralphie also takes a trip to Mile High Stadium every year for the Rocky Mountain Showdown against CSU, who we crushed this year, 44-7. Not to mention, they only have a ram named Cam who sadly died right before the showdown last year and has a new replacement this season… It really does suck to be a CSU Ram doesn’t it?

Ralphie is a historical icon who made her debut in 1966. Since then, there have been four other female bison to carry the Ralphie name and tradition. She brings a huge amount of excitement to everyone in the stadium as she gracefully (maybe not) parades around the perimeter of Folsom Field along with her handlers – five lucky CU students.

Ralphie V, our current mascot, was born in 2006 and named “Blackout” as the herd’s darkest calf. How appropriate, can I get a sko buffs? This 5 ft., 1,200 lb. beauty has been running since 2008, totaling 52 games in her running career and going strong.

CSU may have killed Harambe, but they have nothing on our majestic bison. Hopefully Ralphie can send some luck from home to pull off another Hail Mary and beat the University of Michigan Wolverines tomorrow at 1:30pm.
