Here’s what went down at the Mr Georgetown pageant
If you came late and missed the Swimwear round, YouTube ‘awkward naked white boys dancing’
The Mr Georgetown Pageant was full of beautiful, awkward and shocking moments: it was exactly what the people wanted.
All of the contestants made their way to the stage as their names were announced and proceeded to perform a dance montage to get the crowd warmed up for what was to come.
The contest was made up of three rounds: Swimwear, Talent and Interviews.
If you came late and missed the Swimwear round, youtube “awkward naked white boys dancing”. That pretty much sums it up.
A highlight: Mr Triathalon Club getting stuck trying to strip from a wet suit, which was ultimately for the best. He’d be needing that wet suit, the way the girls were reacting to his interview portion of the contest.
The first eliminations happened after the Swimwear round. At one point, the MC called up Mr Running Club, Mr Triathlon Club, and Mr Relay for Life and initially told Mr Running Club he was safe.
But he messed up.
He called them all back and told the other two they were safe while Mr Running Club was actually eliminated, making everyone uncomfortable. After the first round of eliminations one of the judges dressed in drag came on stage and started bashing on Georgetown Administration before doing a strip tease and provocatively dancing in front of Todd Olson. Hoya Saxa.
Mr. BSA was the first one to perform his talent for the audience.
He made the rest of the talent look petty with a beautiful and emotional spoken word piece about graduating from and missing Georgetown.
For some reason, a pitchy rendition of “Can I Have This Dance” from High School Musical and dance lessons for an obscure dance move just weren’t cutting it.
When Mr Relay for Life came on stage with a guitar, I was nervous for another subpar act, but he pulled through with a hilarious acoustic version of “Love the Way You Lie”, where he did both the Rhianna and Eminem parts.
Mr Triathlon club performed a Bhangra dance with the captains of GU Jawani that had me mimicking his choreography in my seat, and Mr Phantoms killed it with not just any dance, but THE dance to *NSYNC’s “It’s Gonna Be Me”, accompanied by his fellow Phantoms men.
Mr Volleyball concluded the talent portion with an extremely uncomfortable lip synch/serenade/strip tease to his girlfriend.
Mr Relay for Life won the hearts of many with the telling of why he relays.
Mr Phantoms serenaded the audience with “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran.
Swoon.
Mr Triathlon made all the ladies jealous in telling of his idea of the perfect date with his long distance girlfriend and “soul mate”.
Mr BSA was asked if he could be any disney prince, who would it be? He said, “Who’s the one on Snow White?” “Prince Charming”, said the MC. “Yeah, not him. He was kissing on Snow White when she was asleep. That’s messed up. He better check himself.” It was getting tough towards the end.
They all killed the Interview round, but only one of them was crowned Mr Georgetown: none other than Mr BSA. Confetti fell, Hoyas cheered: a picture perfect ending to a heart-stopping show.
