Iowa alumni Mielo returns to Iowa City
This Iowa alum is making it big in the music industry
Brett Stogsdill, better known as Mielo, is a University of Iowa alumni making a name for himself on the electronic music scene.
Brett, who has been making music professionally for two years now, actually used to be the resident DJ at IC’s very own, The Summit Bar. After deciding that he wanted to do more with his talents than DJing alone, he began producing his own original music and thus Mielo was born.
One of his first and biggest experiences performing as Mielo was playing with Porter Robinson on his Shelter Tour with Madeon, a huge tour for Robinson. The recent Iowa grad has also played with and opened for well known artist, Diplo.
Brett has performed in numerous big shows and music festivals across the country, including The Summer Set, Spring Awakening, Freeky Deeky, and others.
Mielo returned to Iowa City for a show last Friday, February 17th at the Blue Moose Tap House before traveling east and completing his tour across the US.
Openers for the night included fellow electronic music artists Pairadice, ALIGN, and NAVE. Check out their music by clicking the names linked to each artists’ Soundcloud!
Brett is excited to announce that he will be releasing the second part to his song “Surreal” very soon. He also plans to release an EP next spring and perform at numerous music festivals over the summer. A second EP is in the works for next fall as well as a tour featuring his newest music.
Congrats on all your success, Brett! Be sure to come back and visit your Hawkeye family soon!
