CU-Boulder is the best university in Colorado, the US, and probably the world

Our scenery is better than yours

With 300 days of sunshine per year, it’s no surprise Boulder, CO is considered one of the happiest places in America to live.

Anyone who has walked down Pearl’s red brick road, ventured into the Flatirons, or had a drunken bite of Cosmos pizza will surely see the magic that exists within this fairytale city. For CU students, this Birkenstock-binding, Flannel-filled fairytale has become a surreal reality: a story charged by adventure, and lacking boredom.

Every passing smile could lead to a new friend. Every group of trees is a place to hang your hammock. Every Saturday of exploring results in an overwhelming amount of potential Instagrams. Every snowy day calls for your mom’s hand-me-down fur jackets, Keystone Light, and day parties. Every walk down Pearl brings a new guy playing piano upside-down or squeezing himself into a miniature box. Every day-trip to ‘the Hill’ has to end in an all natural, organic, vegan, gluten free Rush bowl — I swear, they still taste bomb.

Those who came to CU from out of state have all gotten the same question from friends back home: “Do you ever actually do school?” To all those wondering, the answer is yes, we ‘do school.’

Don’t be fooled by the Snapchats you may get of us laying out at the Buff pool, setting our Urban Outfitters tapestries down on Farrand Field, or hiking Eldorado Canyon on a Monday. We are probably just ‘doing school’ better than you are.

See, at Boulder, when that one professor assigns a lengthy outdated textbook reading, we may just choose to work on our tan poolside at the same time. Or, when the library just isn’t doing it that day, you can usually find us sitting on our blankets outside, doing math with a mountain view. Not to mention, at CU we’ve discovered science labs aren’t so painful when they’re spent searching for that special rock in the Rockies.

Those back home may have a point, though. CU students certainly do not live in the library. With some of the best ski slopes in the world just a couple hours away, a million mountain trails to hike, and all the best boutiques, how could we?

On weekends — or maybe just in between our 8ams and 4:50s — you could find us watching the sun come up from the top of Royals Arch, boarding through Breckenridge, chasing waterfalls at Rocky Mountain National Park, doing yoga at Red Rocks, or whatever else we saw on Trip Advisor that day.

Even just an hour between classes can mean an hour of activity. Don’t get me wrong, we all know those more draining days — we just also know there is nothing better for finding your center than a slack-line.

The true magic of the Boulder Fairytale? Whether you are a wanderer, a fashionista, an athlete, or a bookworm, this city can provide you with 300 days of sunshine and 365 days of smiles.
