How to actually celebrate Valentine’s Day at MSU and still afford Cottage Inn Pizza

Nothing says ‘love’ like a seat in the Izzone

Attention Spartan lovebirds: Valentines Day is near, but if you are broke, have no fear. As broke college kids, we fail to have the funds for extravagance and decadence for most holidays. Valentine’s Day may be a struggle for most of us, but we are all on this “struggle bus” together. So to inspire the inner creative minds you Spartans all possess, we have come up with some splendid February 14th plans on a budget.

MSU v. OSU basketball game @ 9pm

If your dude or chick is a sports fan, a chance to see Miles Bridges, Nick Ward, and Cassius Winston in action could be the perfect gift. You might even be able to get on the kiss cam!

Valentine’s day party with Aaron Carter

Aaron Carter will be performing at The Loving Touch pub in Ferndale, Michigan. Tickets are 17 bucks, and you could even get a meet and greet. The event starts at 8pm and will keep you up all night till 2am. Ladies, you’re going to have to drop a hint to your fella for this one, because I don’t think they keep up with Aaron Carter. I know, sad right?

Netflix and chill

Grab bae and some 99 cent popcorn from your nearest Sparty’s, some Insomnia cookies, and you have the perfect set up forĀ an evening of laughing, talking and smooching. Try not to have your roommate third-wheel; it’ll kill the romance.

Sweet treats on Grand River

Head to the main strip at MSU with your Valentine, and treat them to some Insomnia cookies, the Velvet Candy Store homemade ice-cream and fudge or even some Starbucks. No reservations necessary. You don’t even have to dress up.

A Dairy Store date

Don’t forget the delicious MSU dairy store. Sometimes all you need for a romantic dinner is some candles, a little music and two dairy store grilled cheeses and double scoops to go. You don’t need to go all out to show you care; the little things show just as much.

No matter where, how or with whom you spend your Valentine’s Day, remember that chocolate is always an option. Oh, and don’t forget the teddy bears- the fluffier, the better!
