New details emerge on Title IX investigation at Notre Dame

According to the founder of SurvJustice, it’s not looking too good for Notre Dame

Two students have filed a complaint against the same male student regarding alleged sexual violence, claiming the University failed to respond to in an appropriate manner.

Laura Dunn is the founder of SurvJustice, a legal non-profit based in DC which claims it is representing the two female students who filed complaints. She said to Fox 28 News that the accused male was dismissed from school, although he could later re-enroll. The University chose not to investigate the case under Title IX.

If the student chooses to re-enroll after the victims graduate, it would make a formal hearing difficult to take place.

Other women came forward as well against the same perpetrator – both from St. Mary’s and Notre Dame – accusing him of sexual harassment.

Dunn also commented that the situation was a clever way for the University to avoid responsibility.

If Notre Dame is at fault, it could lose federal funding. Although this has never happened to a school before, the investigation is not something the student body should take lightly, both for the good of the survivors and for every student.
