Oregon basketball advances to the second round of the NCAA tournament

They play on Sunday against Rhode Island

Oregon basketball has advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament after beating the Iona Gaels 93-77 in Sacramento on Friday afternoon. The number 3 seed Ducks, who are now 30-5 on the season, will play number 11 seed Rhode Island on Sunday in the second round.

‘We handled it pretty well. We’ve seen teams can get it going, so everybody had to show up,’ junior Dillon Brooks said after the game.

‘Guys were confident, knocking down shots, and it was a great first game for everybody.’

Sophomore Tyler Dorsey contributed 24 points along with Brooks’ 18, and junior Jordan Bell threw down his seventh double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The Ducks came out with high amounts of energy despite being without senior forward Chris Boucher, who tore his ACL in the semi-finals of the PAC 12 tournament against California.

Duck fans should stay tuned for Sunday’s game time and TV information, which will be announced within the next day.
