Bernie Sanders is coming to Pittsburgh
The man, the myth, the bird whisperer is coming to The David Lawrence Convention Center later this week
Bernie Sanders has announced he will be visiting Pittsburgh on Thursday, March 31st. The rally will be held downtown at the David Lawrence Convention Center.
This is has been quite a presidential week for Pittsburgh: earlier today Vice President Joe Biden announced that his first stop on the ‘Its On Us’ campaign tour will be here at The University of Pittsburgh.
Doors to the Sanders rally will open at 7:30am on Thursday. The event is expected to draw a huge crowd, as Pittsburgh has been a hot bed of Bernie supporters. The event should start at 9am, and last roughly an hour – the senator needs to be at an event in New York later in the day.
This announcement also shortly follows an announcement from UPMC that they will be raising their company-wide minimum starting wages to $15 an hour. Income equality and a higher minimum wage are both very strong focal points for many Bernie supporters.
For those at Pitt planning on attending the event, the convention center is easily accessible by Port Authority Bus. You can take a 61A, 61B, 61C, 61D, 71A, or a 71B from Fifth Opposite Thackery, and get off at Smithfield Street at Sixth Avenue. You then only walk about seven minutes to get to the convention center.
