The Penguins could go all the way this year

Yinz should get ready for Lord Stanley

The Pittsburgh Penguins won 3-2 Monday night over the Washington Capitals in Game 3 of Pittsburgh’s second round series at Consol Energy Center, putting the Pens in front with a 2-1 series lead.

I can’t even put into words how amazing of a game rookie goaltender Matt Murray had. At 21 he’s the youngest player in Pittsburgh history to appear in a playoff game, record a shutout and was also the first rookie goalie in the NHL to win four of his first five playoff starts since Michal Neuvirth in 2011.

The Caps outshot the Pens 49-23. But Murray blocked all but two of those shots. He was TREMENDOUS!! A big thing to consider with Murray is that because he’s a rookie, he doesn’t have the pressure like other older goaltenders might have. This definitely won’t be his last playoff experience. As long as he stays calm, cool and collected, it’ll be all good.

Even though the Pens will be missing Kris Letang in Game 4 on Wednesday, which is bullshit in my opinion, I don’t think his absence will be a huge problem. I think defensemen Ian Cole and Trevor Daley will step up to fill in missing Letang.

Kessel is overdue for a big game and I think Hagelin and Sheary will continue to dominate with their speed.

On top of missing Letang the Pens are down with Maatta and Rust out, Caps are down one.. .Orpik. Anytime the Caps want to stop with the excessively dirty hits would be fantastic.

But the Penguin’s are full of young, energetic guys that just simply want to win. The chemistry finally clicked late in the regular season with the old and new players and has created a kick ass team that I and many other yinzers have faith in. The Caps aren’t mentally tough enough to handle this team.

Don’t get me wrong, the match up of the Pens and Caps is one of the best to watch, but I have at least 57 heart attacks a game and I’m ready for the Pens to end it!

Reasons like this give the pens a great opportunity to (hopefully) breeze through the playoffs and come out raising the Stanley Cup once more.

LET’S GO PENS!!
