Football fans are being treated for heat and intoxication at Heinz Field

Stay cool out there

It’s a hot day in Pittsburgh, and the crowd at Heinz Field is not backing down.

The stadium just began selling alcohol this year to college students, and that may have been a part in the over-the-top intoxication today.

And the heat has caused health concerns for some fans.

It seems that alcohol and heat related issues aren’t the only injuries occurring at Heinz Field today.

Pitt freshman Andrew Farber, watching the game, told The Tab: “A guy was laying down on the sidewalk, and a girl was holding his ankle up. It was taped with gauze and it was quite bloody.” The incident was seen between PNC park and Heinz Field.

Sophomore Adam Argetine added: “I saw a bunch of ambulances when I was outside the stadium. I was sitting next to one dude who looked like he was about to [pass out] but his friends took him inside.”

INSIDE HEINZ FIELD & AT THE GATES- POLICE 1 domestic arrest 1 indecent assault arrest 21 scalping citations

OUTSIDE HEINZ FIELD- POLICE 1 arrested for intoxication, disorderly conduct and defiant trespass EMS

MEDICAL TREATMENTS 129 EMS responses/patient contacts Most of the calls for assistance were heat related with some calls involving excessive alcohol and or falls. Of these 129 patients seen, there were a total of 31 Transports to local hospitals, none of which were serious. Pitt Police, County Police, County Sheriffs, State Police and the FBI assisted with today’s game. Additionally, multiple local neighboring EMS agencies assisted with the high call volume for medical emergencies.

In other news…

And of course, the “respect” that Pitt asked for from students has been denied, and Harambe is involved.
