Undervalued Campus Resources: Wellness & Health Center
The best place to have an adventure
If you, like 99% of students on campus, have been stressed about finals, I hope you visited the Anteater Wellness Fair. From booths giving out free toothpaste to the cutest four service dogs, UCI’s Wellness and Health Center has resources to provide for your physical and emotional needs.
Most students–I’m looking at you, freshmen–don’t take full advantage of the center’s services until their third year at UCI. For free (or, well, part of the tuition you’re already paying) you can stop by the center once a day, every day Monday through Friday, and get ten free condoms, with a wide selection from strawberry flavored to ribbed condoms.
Whether you actually use them or give them to that one over-sexual friend, the center’s got you covered. Along with condoms, the center offers workshops on mental health, HIV testing, consultations, and a lactation station for breastfeeding moms. If you’re lucky, maybe even some free lotion or sunscreen that comes with a coupon.
If you’re nervous about stopping by, like me and my roommate were, rest assured: the center’s volunteers and employees are the most kind, helpful people. Have no fear, anteaters, and take control of your physical and mental health by reaching out to the center. They’re here for you, “to help students succeed by working with them to explore and identify areas of growth in personal health and wellness.”
I encourage you all: take your backpacks and take all the free stuff you’re already paying for. This quarter’s fair has already passed, but make sure to check out Spring Fever next quarter and stop by the center for all of your needs!
