Do you prefer Ted’s or Huskies? And where do you eat afterwards?
We found out where UConn loves to turn up and chow down
You know you’re one or the other. Team Ted’s or Team Huskies.
We also know the hunger is real after a night out at one of these fine establishments.
So we took the the streets to find out which bar you call home, and what are you snacking on after you’ve been.
Kaitlyn Czapiga, 21, Speech Pathology
“Is this a rhetorical question? Huskies till the day I die. The rowdiness, the lack of toilet paper and oxygen to breathe makes Nickel the best place on Earth. Probably haven’t missed a Thursday Nickel in two straight years.”
“My place of choice is actually 7/11. The Indian man and me are friends and he makes a banging pizza. So I usually head over there on my way back, wait a maximum of five minutes and have a fresh pizza straight out of the oven.”
Alex Lennon, 21, Accounting, junior
“It’s quite a toss up for me, I love both. I like that Huskies is much bigger and more dancing, I love dancing. I also love beavers from Ted’s though. Thumbs up from me all around. I don’t usually remember most of the night no matter which location so I think that’s a good sign.”
“I like Wings over Storrs. I love chicken. A lot of foods are not nearly as good here as in Australia but chicken is pretty standard. I just tried Ranch for the first time. I love ranch, I put my chicken in ranch.”
Karissa Daly, 21, Communications, senior
“Ted’s all the way. Having asthma, me and Huskies don’t get along too swimmingly. I cant move, I cant breathe, and I certainly cant push my way up to the bar to get a drink. Ted’s is a friendlier, less hostile crowd. You cant beat karaoke Wednesdays.”
“After a night at Ted’s you could pretty much convince me any food tastes good. I recently had drunk subway which was a new one and it was amazing. Best sandwich I ever had, that may be a new go to now.”
Skylar Cleveland, 21, HDFS
“I’m a Ted’s girl. I like being able to walk around and talk to people which is something I have never been capable of during Nickel. Also screaming throwbacks into the microphone is basically what I live for, (shout out karaoke night).”
“Pizza. I don’t care what kind, where it’s from. I won’t ask questions, just hand over the pizza and ranch and leave me alone.”
Michelle Zupa, 20, Allied Health
“Due to my age I am more of a frat party kind of girl. Patiently waiting to be able to walk through the doors of huskies though and successfully be let in by Ackel (not holding a grudge).”
“I really like pringles. It’s the snack food that really gets me going after a long night out.”
Gloria Antonios, 22, Communications
“Ted’s. I went to Nickel once and never went back. It takes a special kind of person to not mind being stampeded and spilled all over.”
“Pizza. The warm, cheesy goodness, I’m drooling right now – can we change the subject?”
Matt Schumacher, 21, Sports Management
“Ted’s fanatic. Regular on Wednesdays. Not into Huskies.”
“Chicken noodle soup for the soul. I’m on a kick where I come home hammered and manage to successfully make soup, it’s the best. And if I cant do that a calzone from DP Dough usually hits the spot.”
