UConn Board of Trustees approves tuition hike
‘The logic is infallible. Without a new football training facility, ice-hockey rink or student gym, how can students ever hope to graduate with a nationally respected degree?’
Today, the second most shocking price spike on campus took place as the UConn Board of Trustees approved a four-year tuition hike from Fall 2016 to Spring 2020 (the first most shocking price spike being the $5 Zone-of-the-Day becoming the $6 Zone-of-the-Day).
The changes come as UConn embarks on its Next-Gen Connecticut construction initiative that is estimated to raise enrollment by the thousands and improve the school’s STEM capabilities i.e., new dorms and classrooms. However, development has been threatened due to state budget cuts to the school, and a projected budget deficit of $40 million.
Knowing that our generation has already been screwed out of the future, the university decided that if the state won’t build it, we will!
By the end of the four years, tuition will rise $3200 for in-state students, and $4400 more for out-of-state students.
President Susan Herbst said in this expansion is necessary to keep UConn a nationally ranked school, and secure enrollment in the future, even if it requires raising tuition, cutting costs, and overall gouging the dreams of Connecticut high-schoolers.
The logic is infallible. Without a new football training facility, ice-hockey rink or student gym, how can students ever hope to graduate with a nationally respected degree? When parents look back on investing their hard-earned dollars into their child’s future, they want to think, “Wow, look how green that damned grass is!”
