Why there’s nothing more important than traveling the world
It’s time to book a plane ticket
We are in an era of social change, there is no longer a need to build empires or travel the seas until you hopefully find some land. In fact, we are in a betterment era where we are just trying to make things better: Our minds, our bodies, our relationships with others, the world.
Millennials are the change. We are growing with a world that went from completely divided to a more unified one. And with a long path still left to walk, we are privileged to be here at this point in time.
Yet a lot of us are stuck or unaware of the capabilities we have to bring positive change and have our society step a bit closer to a nicer more tolerant one. Oh but no worries, there is a cure my friend…Travel!
Self discovery
We start knowing ourselves when we are out of our comfort zones. Traveling pushes you to be in physical and emotional places that you have never been before. It will make you question your beliefs and values. You’ll learn this when you arrive to your destination after 21 hours of traveling to find that your luggage was lost. You’ll learn this when you are pushed out of the airport with nothing but tears and a complimentary toothbrush.
You’ll learn this when the sea breeze finally hits your face and the sounds of a new city make you smile and understand what life is really all about.
As our lives change so does the rest of the world
The city where you grew up is not the same as it was 10 years ago. Same concept applies for Europe, Asia, South America, etc.
We have the opportunity to visit places at a unique point in time, let’s not miss it.
Technology is better than ever
With technological advances we are able to record and collect memories like never before. This means that your travels can be easily and beautifully documented.
Think of all the teachings and moments that can be revisited without having to carry a 100 page photo album for the rest of your life.
Your creativity will flourish
Beautiful landscapes, experiences, and people will make your creativity skyrocket.
The funny sounds of a language you don’t get, the enchanting smells of new foods, the magic of watching a sunset in a place you have never been before, all powerful and inspiring experiences that can’t be replicated from home.
The world could use some unity
The best way to make the world a better place is to go out there and get to know it. How can you make other people understand the pain, joy, and lives of others if you don’t understand them yourself?
Going to a different country makes your heart grow and your perspective on the world shift. There you have it. Traveling expands intellectual and physical horizons. Getting to know our neighbors and explore cities with rhythms completely different from our own will allow us to see the world through different eyes.
The reality is this: If we really want to make a difference, and if we seriously want to leave the world a better place than when we got here, we really, really, really need to travel.
