The best dining hall hacks at UMass
You can finally put those pinterest boards to use
We’ve all seen the list created on pinterest on how to create meals that aren’t on the dinning common’s menu. Now each DC is slight different here at UMass so not every single meal can be created the same. What that means is explore the different options that you have, and have fun with it!
Here are some of my personal favorite meals to make.
The Burrito Bowl – Franklin
Want a burrito bowl from Chipotle, but don’t want to risk E Coli or pay extra money for that guac? Take a bowl and fill it with rice of your choosing, then head to the Asian section and grab chicken or tofu depending on the day.
Next go to the Mexican section and get your usual toppings including salsa, cheese, guac, lettuce, corn, beans, etc.
And Voila! you have your very own UMass burrito bowl!
Chipotle eat your heart out!
Fruit and Yogurt Parfait – Worcestor
Worcestor has fruit during breakfast and during brunch on the weekends. I usually see strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, and grapes there. The fruit tends to go fast, so grab the fruit first if you want to make this helpful snack. Grab one of the plastic to go cups and load up on yogurt, granola, dried or fresh fruit and now you have a snack to go!
Breakfast Bagel/English Muffin – All DCs
Another super simple meal is one of my favorites after a long night (studying of course). Grab an English muffin or a bagel and pop it into the toaster. Grab whatever breakfast food that you want to put into it. My favorite combo is scrambled eggs and cheese on a bagel.
Frappe – All D’s (Except Hamp, since you don’t have ice cream and only froyo…)
If you thought the other ideas were easy, this one is a no brainer. Simply grab a glass, fill it up with your favorite soft-serve ice cream, add a bit of milk, and any toppings from the ice cream bar, and mix!
So don’t fret if your favorite food, like buffalo chicken mac’n cheese, isn’t on the menu that night. Instead, get creative and make your own!
