We timed how long it takes to walk from different parts of campus

Including the creepy path from Morrison to Genome

Hi there. I’m your friendly neighborhood sophomore and I just walked through the rain and wind to figure out just how long it takes to get from one side of campus to the other.

I didn’t just guesstimate – I actually made every walk in order to tell the good people of UNC exactly how long it will take to cross campus. Here we go.

The Pit to Franklin St

Yup, a whopping 11 minutes. Not too bad. I was expecting worse.

South Campus dorms to Rams Head

So, technically I started at the bus stop in front of Horton and HoJo – the one where a million kids always get off of the U. Because obviously I didn’t walk all the way back to South from Franklin. I’m not crazy.

Rams Head to Davis

So that makes a grand total of 15 minutes and 12 seconds to walk from South to North. Hmm, no wonder I took the bus every day last year from Craige.

Morrison to Genome (aka creepy path behind the dumpsters)

Well, that was fun. (I cheated and did this one on a nice day.)

Student Stores to Dean Dome

This was one heck of a walk. Luckily, I park my car down there, so I actually had a purpose to walk that far. Though taking the bus was very tempting. But would I have gotten this sick pic if I had taken the bus?

Franklin to Dean Dome

All together, that makes the walk from Franklin to the Dean Dome (essentially the entire length of campus) close to 25 minutes. Not too bad? Well, that’s why I’m not a Business major.

At the end of the day, it was an enlightening experience I suppose. Even though my umbrella turned inside out twice. Also, CROSSWALK WAITS MAY VARY. Your friendly neighborhood sophomore, signing off.
