Why March is the best month at UNC
We all fill out our brackets with the same end goal
Of course every month at UNC is great, but there’s just something special about the month of March. Whether it’s the basketball, the weather or the breaks, March has got to be one of the best months of the year.
There may be a few midterms, but at least you can study for them in Quad while you’re stressing out. Better weather makes everything more bearable.
Here are just a few examples why March at UNC is the best time of the year.
The UNC-Duke game
The final game of yet another ACC championship season for the Heels is always intense. It’s even better when it comes with GameDay. The spirit in the air, along with maybe some pollen, has everyone excited and working out their plans for where they’ll be watching the game this time. If you’re going to the game, it’s a whole other story. That’s enough to make your year, yet alone your March.

March Madness
The most intense sporting event of the year happens in March. Anything can happen and any team can win (especially if that team is Carolina). Start planning your brackets and putting down $5 now because it’s going to be an intense month, even if you don’t really follow basketball.

The weather
Okay, so this 70-degrees-and-sunny thing going on in February is not the most common thing, so typically everyone is ready for that warmer weather in March. It’s the perfect blend of beautiful outside without the humidity of April and the return of the dreaded backsweat on the walk to class. Plus, who doesn’t like doing their homework in the quad?
Spring Break
The best part about the beautiful weather in March is that we get a whole week out of classes to enjoy it. You can go wherever you want and work on that base tan for the summer while totally not doing all that work you have to do until the night before classes start again.

March is the perfect blend of everything good about Carolina — beautiful weather, intense basketball and a nice break from classes to enjoy it all. So, soak up every day before it gets too hot to enjoy it.
