The Chipotle on Guad is closed today

And they’re offering free burritos to say sorry

To the dismay of many burrito lovers, Chipotle has closed its doors nationwide today from 11am to 3pm in order to implement a new food safety program.

After a bout of bad rep regarding the E. coli contamination, Chipotle has decided to train staff members on food preparation and handle other changes regarding company structure and kitchen environment.

Such changes include:
• Items like tomatoes, lettuce, and bell peppers will be prepared in central kitchens.
• Items like cilantro are to be marinated in citrus juice for extra layer of food safety (and flavor).
• Company food tracing system will allow them to track all ingredients.
• Stores will undergo regular inspections by local government health officials.

Fortunately, these changes seem to have satisfied the CDC, declaring the struggle against the warm-blooded E. coli to be over.

And yet, if you’re a die-hard Chipotle fan looking for some relief, Chipotle will be offering free burritos for every person who texts “Raincheck” to 888-222 by 6pm today.

My advice? Pull out your mobile devices and fire away. Tomorrow’s might be the best burrito you’ve ever had.
