We’re finally getting a new Bevo
Bevo XV will arrive in the fall
Texas has been lacking a mascot since the unfortunate passing of Bevo XIV in October.
Bevo XIV began his tenure in 2004 and loyally served our school and team during many ups, downs, and historic moments in UT football.
Our football players carried out the rest of the 2015 season without a Longhorn looming in their presence.
Bevo XV will be unveiled at the Notre Dame football game on September 3rd – but the final contender for the esteemed role has yet to be determined.
Carrying the tradition of caretaking and looking after Bevo will be the UT Silver Spurs alumni association, who have looked after previous mascots since 1937.
Choosing the heir to the throne is not a light decision. There are many factors in choosing the famed mascot, including color and personality.
To many students and alumni, Bevo is not just an animal but a living symbol of the University of Texas.
That being said, we should all be excited to see when the curtain is unveiled in September.
