I worked out at the AFC in a hot dog costume

‘You got some nice buns’

Thank Professor Wilson and his Social Psychology class for the wondrous sight of me in a hot dog costume on the elliptical.

The second paper in the course is a description and analysis of you and a partner publicly breaking a social norm. So we borrowed a hot dog costume. As you do.

Most of the results of our little experiment didn’t surprise me: I had a lot of people stare, a bunch of giggles, and sneaky picture taking (was I snap story worthy?) but probably my favorite thing was that my partner Sam was Yak worthy (Thank you stranger, we do have nice buns).

One of the most interesting things I found was that my peers found this strange outfit choice funny and picture worthy, while older people (ages 45 and above) mostly gave me disgusted looks and even tried to run away from me (a lady almost ran into a wall) when I got too close. I thought my buns were nice? Why you running?

I got a lot of texts afterwards about me in people’s snap stories/my friends asking me where I found a hot dog costume, as if that’s not what everyone has lying in their closet, psh.

Honestly, I found the experiment so much fun and if you want to make people laugh and have randos ask you “Are you training to be a mascot?”(I obviously am) 10/10 would recommend.
