The struggles of being a cat lady without a cat

Step aside dog lovers

To all my fellow cat lovers who have been and are still waiting for the day to adopt their first cat.

When you were a kid, you did everything to convince your parents to adopt a cat

From “Mom, can we please get a cat, if I run down the stairs faster than you?” to “Dad, I promise I will do all the chores,” you tried almost everything.

You have done research on everything related to raising cats as if you are going to adopt one tomorrow

Gotta be ready, right?

You get overly excited when you meet someone who has a cat

You meet someone new and casually ask them whether they have a pet. “Yes, I have a cat named Garfield.” Jackpot.

You try your best to become friends with your friend’s cat

You want to make sure that your friend’s cat knows how much you love him. You slowly blink your eyes and let him sniff your hands. You have no doubt that he will love you back one day.

You longingly watch your friend’s cat the entire time you are at their house

Your friend’s cat takes naps, chases his tail and does other things that cats do. No matter what he is doing, you cannot stop appreciating his adorableness.

Every cat you meet is the cutest cat in the world

Cat ladies who have their own cats think their cats are the cutest. However, you, the cat lady with no cat, think all cats are equally cute.

You watch cute cat videos when you are stressed out

It is finals week. You are in the library studying for that math exam you have tomorrow. Overwhelmed by all of the equations, you feel the urge to cry. You open your laptop and watch cat videos. After a few minutes, you realize how much you feel better. Cats are the best stress relievers.

You cry sometimes while looking at cats

Cats make your eyes sweat sometimes. It may be because you are overwhelmed by their cuteness…or because you miss your future cat.

“You would be a great cat parent” is one of the best compliments you have received

Many people are surprised when they find out that you have never before had your own cat. They tell you that you are going to be a great cat owner, and you start doing a little happy dance in your head.

Your future cat is your motivation to work hard

There are days when you want to run away from all of your responsibilities, but then you remember that your future cat is depending on you.

You cannot wait to meet your future cat

You do not know how long it is going to take until you adopt your first cat. However, you are certain that your cat is going to be one of the most wonderful things that have ever happened to you.
