Maggie Morse, Calhoun College, 2017

Maggie’s shared food Instagram with friends from high school has all of us hungry.

Her strong focus on sweet, savory, cheesy, melty, omg I need a bacon egg and cheese right now, feeling photos invoke a variety of emotions and tummy grumbling from her followers.

She knows how to make good food look even better and has fun in the process of sharing! Your stomach will approve of following her.

What inspired you to start a foodstagram?

I absolutely love food! It is so fun to take pictures of my favorite foods to remember the restaurant, the dish, and to share it with others. I always like looking at big foodstagrams when deciding where and what to eat, so I hope that mine does the same for others!

How would you describe your Insta style?

I think @treat_yo_selfff’s captions differentiate us from other foodstagrams. We try (and hopefully succeed) to be witty and have our followers appreciate our pictures as well as our captions.

What’s your favorite thing about Instagram?

My favorite thing about Instagram is the balance between what is going on in the photo and the beauty of the picture as a whole. @Treat_yo_selfff started as a fun hobby with friends, but in the future we hope it becomes a platform for restaurants and other food businesses to advertise their products and creations.

It seems like you guys are well on your way to that goal. Have you noticed any trends in what photos get the most likes?

In terms of foods – desserts definitely get the most likes followed by extra cheesy dishes. From a photography perspective – aesthetically pleasing color contrast is the most important factor.

What advice would you give to aspiring foodstagrammers?

Grab a group of friends and do it! It is so fun to share your delicious snacks and meals and even more fun to see your pictures shared on other foodstagrams such as @infatuation and @foodintheair. Aim high and maybe someday it will turn into a profitable company!
